2025 COMPOSERS HUB COHORT
Yunmeng Wang
Yunmeng Wang, female, was admitted to the graduate program in composition at Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2023,ranking first in her cohort,under the guidance of Pro. Mingzhu Song.
Growing up in Xinjiang, China, Wang has conducted field research in regions such as Ili and Kashgar. She sought advice from local folk artists and scholars, gaining inspiration and cultural insights through close engagement with traditional music.
Wang has received numerous accolades, including the Gold Award at the 3rd “Dunhuang Award” National Competition for New Works of Chinese Ethnic Chamber and Solo Music; 2nd Prize at the 2024 Busan Maru International Music Festival Composition Competition; 2nd Prize in the 3rd Sichuan-Shanxi-Hubei “Talent Excellence Program” Composition Category; 1st Prize in the 2021 “SCM Cup” Student Instrumental Composition Competition at Sichuan Conservatory of Music; and 1st Prize in the 16th Student Songwriting Competition at the same place.
Her work Quest was selected for inclusion in the Contemporary Composer’s Chamber Music Library, a series jointly published by China Publishing Group’s Modern Publishing House and Schott Music Group in Germany as part of the “14th Five-Year Plan” National Key Publication Project. This piece was among the first to be featured in the series, receiving widespread recognition.
Megan DiGeorgio
Megan DiGeorgio is a composer, violist, vocalist, educator, and arts administrator based in Chicago. As an artist, Megan believes in community and collaboration, and works to create accessible, inclusive artistic spaces and opportunities. She strives for active integration of her various artistic pursuits into one comprehensive creative practice.
Her work is featured on Duo Entre-Nous’s latest album, Progress. Select commissions include Duo Entre-Nous, Concertia, University of Maine Farmington, Edgewood High School, Fear No Music, Natalie Groom/Catherine Robinson/Qun Ren, Bryan Young, and Joanna McCoskey Wiltshire; upcoming/recent performances of her music include New Music Chicago Presents, LunART Festival, SHE: Women in Music Festival, Constellation Chicago’s Frequency Series, Chicago songSLAM, “Flexing the Canon,” and Boulanger Initiative’s WoCo Fest. Additional notable performances include the International Contemporary Ensemble, TURN UP Multimedia Festival, Syracuse University Singers, Hypercube, TURNmusic, Fear No Music’s HEARINGS, Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra, Pennsbury Community Band, District New Music Coalition’s New Music DC Conference, and Megan’s self-produced composer-performer show, Equilibrium. She has been selected for opportunities such as Quince Ensemble’s Quincetitute, the Out of Our Shells project, facilitated by American University’s Humanities Truck, and Concertia’s Emerging Composer Fellowship for 2021-2022. Megan is pursuing a PhD in composition and music technology at Northwestern University.
Soeui Lee
Soeui Lee was appointed as Universal Edition composer in Wien, and a Next Generation Composer and Art Producer in Art Council Korea. Lee interested in harmonizing of Korean Traditional Aesthetics and Modern Music.
Her representative composition works for Three Bagatelles with Pacific Quintet based in Berlin, This piece was composed with inspiration from Korean folk song, K-pop and Western Classical Composition music. The Déjavu with Ligeti Quartet based in London, reflects the life time of experiences of the composer including her studies of dreaming, the visual arts and Korea traditional musical instrument infused within modern composition techniques.
Lee’s composition works have been received a commissions, performed and introduced, Nimphenburg International Summer Chamber Music Festival in Munich, Konzerthaus Berlin, Ligeti Quartet in London, Seoul Arts Center, Timf Ensemble, Tongyeong International Music Festival composition Academy with composer Salvatore Sciarrino, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Unsuk Chin Master class, Ensemble Trio Hann, Contemporary ensemble α, The National Academy of Arts, Republic of Korea, Korea Arts Council, Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, ACL, Korea Music Expo, The National Academy of Arts, Republic of Korea, Indiana University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California, Franz Schubert Conservatory.
Shengran Jin
Shengran Jin is a composer and Kunqu/Peking Opera artist from China. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University, studying composition with Don Freund. As an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, she has won the first prize in Chinese Opera Competition for five consecutive years and received the 12th China ‘Little Plum Blossom’ Gold Award. Furthermore, she conducted on-site research and performances in the traditional Suzhou garden, exploring the new fusion of different art forms—Kunqu opera and the traditional Suzhou garden.
She delves into the study of philosophy, history, Chinese traditional culture and poetry. Her works are deeply aesthetic and profound, particularly in their expression of poetic and cultural imagery. She believes that music, to some extent, transcends language in expressing “whereof one cannot speak”. Beyond Chinese music, she is also passionate about world music, exploring the fusion of diverse regional and ethnic musical styles.
Yilin Wang
Yilin Wang is a composer and sound artist whose work bridges Western and Eastern musical traditions, exploring timbre, texture, and aesthetic expression. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Composition at Western University.
Previously, Yilin worked as a senior recording engineer at Hunan Broadcasting and Television Station for more than seven years, producing high-quality audio programs, radio dramas, and sound documentaries. She holds an Associate Recording Engineer certificate from China, and her extensive experience in sound design and audio technology informs her compositions, enabling her to craft unique sonic landscapes in both acoustic and electroacoustic music. She has also published research on binaural stereo technology and 3D audio production.
Yilin’s recent projects include chamber music, electroacoustic works, experimental spatial compositions, and interdisciplinary collaborations. She has participated in several international initiatives, such as the City to City 2021: PLAY! online residency and the Yunnan Ethnic Arts Festival. Her compositions and sound design works have received numerous national and international awards.
Kei Wing Chan
Kei Wing Chan is a pianist, composer, and multi-media artist from Hong Kong, currently based in New York City. Her musical language is inspired by nature, humanity, and human activities, as well as by exploring different timbre through spectromorphology and spatialization. Chan always creates music that resonates with everyone by focusing on diversity and inclusion. Her works include solo, chamber, orchestral, electroacoustic music, and sound installation.
Chan is a graduate student at Stony Brook University, where she studies with Daria Semegen, Daniel Weymouth, and Margaret Schedel. She completed her Master of Music degree at Mannes School of Music and received her Bachelor of Music degree in music composition and theory at Xinghai Conservatory. Her primary teachers were Dong Yan, Yujia Zeng, Joan La Barbara, and John Mallia.
